History, Vision & Values

Vineyard Church was established in Loughton in 1985 by a small group of local Christians. Since then, there has been steady growth both in numbers and in community-based work, and the church now is a diverse congregation of over 400 people, the majority of whom live in Loughton, Debden and the surrounding areas.

We want to make tangible the love of God by the clear demonstration in action and words, of the life, teaching and values of the person of Jesus Christ; and in his name to bring permanent benefit to the community.

In other words, Vineyard Church is here for good, a church in the community for the community.

Vineyard Church believes in working in partnership with others in the building of the Kingdom of God. To this end, the church is committed to working with other local churches through Churches Together in Loughton, and with other churches nationally through the Evangelical Alliance (which has 3000 member churches representing over 1 million people in the UK), Ichthus Christian Fellowship, Willow Creek Association and the New Wine Network.
