Finances and giving
Our published accounts
Restore Community Church is a registered charity, regulated by the Charity Commission.
Giving
We are grateful for every gift received, both large and small, and occasional giving may be all the commitment you are able to make, however regular, tax efficient giving provides the trustees the best opportunity to plan the finances of the church and ensure we don’t commit ourselves beyond our capacity to pay.
Our history shows that God has always provided for our needs through the giving of his people – our part in that 'bargain' is to ensure we are acting as wise stewards of what he gives us.
How can I give regularly?
The best way to give on a regular basis is through a standing order from your bank – please ask Greer to give you a form to help set this up. Alternatively you can commit to putting in regular amounts to the offering (and if you don’t have a regular source of income that is often the best solution) but the advantage of a standing order is that you know the payment has been made as you originally intended.
How much should I give?
The amount you give is a matter for you, your family and God to work out! As a church we teach the principles of tithing – returning to God 10% of all he has given you in the first place. We also believe the Bible teaches that tithes should be given to the church. Importantly our giving should not be a legalistic and grudging response to God, but rather should be made from a grateful heart and as an act of worship. There is one important caveat to all this – if you are in financial difficulties and struggling with debt you should seek to clear your debts first, however long that takes, and only then consider giving to the church. The reason being that to do otherwise you are giving money that rightly belongs to your creditors and therefore is not your own to give away.
How can I give tax efficiently?
If you are a taxpayer, as long as you have signed a Gift Aid form (again, available from Greer), Restore can recover from the Government a further 28p for every £1 you give. The process is very simple – as long as we know the gift is from you (because it comes in through standing order or you have paid by cheque), we send a list of all donations received to the Inland Revenue and they send us a cheque three weeks later. If you give by putting cash into the collection, as long as you use one of the giving envelopes and put your name on the front, again we can recover the Gift Aid.
I still have questions – who should I speak to?
If you still have questions or have any comments having read this please speak to Del Marshall, the church treasurer.
Thank you for your partnership with us in this adventure of faith!
